Born and raised in Vienna, I am incredibly lucky to also having experienced pure, unspoiled nature all through childhood thanks to my family on the Austrian countryside. While the capital is not exactly a metropolis either, the tiny village tucked between mountains and idyllic lakes that I get to call my second home, makes for the perfect escape from city life.
Apart from lovely people and the cute little pug that you probably know from my Insta stories (it's not mine, unfortunately!), there's an abundance of outdoor activities to enjoy and the one that I, without a doubt, love the most is hiking.
I get told that I almost run when hiking, but I think it's the most enjoyable thing to hike steeply uphill at a really fast pace. It's such a good workout too! I especially love that you don't need lots of equipment for hiking. I don't know if you can relate but, for example, I love snowboarding but it always irks me just how much stuff is needed to do it.
For hiking, on the contrary, you need hiking shoes, water and sun screen - especially if you're going to alpine terrain. Optional, although I strongly recommend it, is some food or at least a plan where and when you'll find food on the mountain - I always get hungry. I also brought my new sunglasses and watch, kindly provided by MVMT for her. Aren't they a beautiful pair?
Since my exchange semester starting in mid-July (excited!) will be in a city close to the sea, I was more than content to spend a short summer vacation relaxing on the countryside instead of lying at the beach. And of course, once there, I went hiking. Join my movement in the mountains in the photos below.
This post is in collaboration with MVMT for her.
