GUYSSSS, I'm so excited to share this one with you.
You already know I have a passion for sustainable fashion labels. And I have recently found one that immediately rose to the ranks of my favorites. Peeps, meet Studio Miyagi - a Viennese label, founded by two ladies on a mission to develop contemporary underwear. What's that, contemporary underwear? Well, according to Veronika and Maria, it should be a mixture of lingerie and activewear, that's suitable for working in an office, a spontaneous yoga session in the park and a night out in the club. Basically, a multifunctional but pretty piece of clothing that you can wear for any occasion.
Having said that, Studio Miyagi's designs are much more than a reinterpretation of underwear. What's remarkable about the label is that it takes sustainability to a new level. First of all, all clothes are made from Tencel® - an organic cellulose fiber produced by the Austrian firm Lenzing. Although it's true that the fabric is produced with the help of petrochemicals, it requires less water and energy than cotton. The material is also ultrasoft, hypoallergenic, resistant to wrinkles and since it can simply be washed and drycleaned, it's also low-maintenance and durable.
Ok that's already pretty nice, but what really caught my attention is this: Studio Miyagi clothes are made from excess fabric that was bought but not used by other firms, also known as dead stock. Essentially, they create something new and beautiful from fabric that would otherwise have gone to waste. The label's website states that they collaborate with "selected textile companies throughout Germany", who they make sure meet all European working standards.
And there's more. If you buy from their online shop, the clothing comes packaged in recycled Japanese newspaper. No plastics or unnecessary packaging materials involved. I find the label's concept amazing and I'm seriously in love with the designs. At this point I'd like to make clear that this is not a paid post :)) THIS is precisely the reason why I wanted to blog in the first place. To have a platform to share discoveries like this one.
The girls from Studio Miyagi allowed me to shoot a few of their pieces, however. You can see the result down below and get a closer look at the current collection. The new one is in the making, so stay tuned. ★
1. The Fishermen Set
This crop can be worn both this way and the other way around, so it looks more like a top than a bra. Super comfy.
2. Grey Joy
A supersoft grey body you don't even want to take off. Wore it with a distressed pair of jeans.
3. Ultimate III
Two pieces that can be both worn separately and are cool to wear on the streets (especially the top) or as loungewear.
4. T-Shirt Boy
This black piece is a body, shirt and crop top all at once, depending on how you wear it. Get a better idea here. I wore it Yeezy style - always wanted to do that and it was the perfect piece for it :))
Had you heard of Studio Miyagi before? Do you love it as much as I do? Let me know down below.
