Yes, these pictures were taken during my last days in Vienna. I promise I'm really in Sydney though guys haha! However, a) I still have so much Vienna content that's patiently waiting to be published, b) I've been running on a mixture of coffee and adrenaline these past two weeks with little time to capture my life in Sydney and c) I haven't shown you guys any of my cute summer dresses! Although Australia is warm, it's not the right season for summer clothes, so bear with me while I reminisce of warmer days. But don't you worry, blog posts about Bondi beach and all the best places to have brunch in Sydney are coming very soon.
Until then, I have something equally exciting to share: A summer outfit featuring my beautiful wood watch by JORD. It's a luxury timepiece with minimalist design and adds a touch of boho chic to the look. How do you like it? I paired it with red nails and a simple brown strapless dress - so happy with the outcome! What I love most about JORD is that they are so transparent about the materials they use. The zebrawood used for my watch (Frankie 35, Zebrawood & Champagne) hails from Congo, West Africa and is a vulnerable wood type according to the IUCN red list, which means that it is not yet endangered or in the process of becoming extinct, but still threatened. I had never heard of this red list before (shame on me) and find it pretty amazing that JORD casually mentions it on their website.
Admittedly, using a wood that is classified as vulnerable is definitely not ideal. However, how much do we know about the ingredients or materials used in all the products that we purchase in our daily life? I think that raising awareness and educating consumers about sustainability of a product is a first step. I will definitely consult the IUCN list in the future when making purchases that involve wood. Additionally, it should be mentioned that out of 13 wood types listed on the JORD website, 5 are listed as vulnerable, and none of them are classified as endangered.
Ok Elena, we get that you care about sustainability, but where can we get this watch?! This is where things get exciting. JORD currently runs a huge giveaway where you can win a $100 gift code. Only one lucky person will win, BUT everyone who participates will receive a code worth $25 once the contest ends in late August! All watches are handcrafted and come in a little wood box that is so pretty, I plan on using it for jewelry. Sorry, dear Frankie, you'll have to share your space :) The best part: Shipping is free worldwide. Be sure to participate in the giveaway using THIS link! If you have any questions, feel free to ask and don't forget to check out my outfit below.
I'll keep sipping coffee and working on those Sydney posts.
Until next time!
xx Elena ♡
