Ah, statement clothes. It's a love-hate relationship that I have with them. On the one hand, they immediately grab my attention and I like that they're bold and unique. On the other hand, although they're usually part of a perfectly styled ensemble when displayed in a store, I'm often not immediately sure how to style them and tend to think that I won't wear them often because they don't appear to be versatile. But all that's needed to make statement pieces work is a little styling inspiration and that's precisely what I'll try and give to you in this blog post. Here's my three ways to wear multi-colored, textured shorts, that are actually part of a tweed-like set you can see in my latest instagram post (click here). The pants are fitted, high-waisted, and although they're quite short they look very elegant. Here's what I did with them:
What I like about this look is that it is actually made up of staple clothes: A white t-shirt, a denim jacket and ankle boots. However, combined with the pants, the outfit looks "updressed" and kind of fancy, without being over the top. Perfect for a warm and sunny day on which you feel like dressing up a little bit.
My go-to style on an everyday basis: Wear something black and put on comfy sneakers. This is the perfect look for almost any activity - where it's okay to show your bare legs, that is. I certainly wouldn't wear this to university or any other (semi-)professional setting, but it's a cool, casual and comfortable style for a day out and about in the city.
What do you wear when you're dressing formally? Exactly, high heels. You can never go wrong with black high heels. I mean, in terms of looking good. You can definitely go wrong with heels when you have to walk, dance or even stand for a long time, except if you have magic feet or are somehow immune to pain. I will definitely write a post about the madness of wearing heels in the future. It's actually insane. Until then, let's be honest, there is hardly anything that turns an outfit into an OUTFIT as quickly as high heels. Probably even your pajamas would look good with them. Throw on a blazer on top and you're good to go.

Let me know what you think! xxx
